And Here They Are…The New Babies of 2014!

It’s January and time for all the new babies to appear on the scene here at Swan View Ranch.  Such an exciting time of the year!

We already have 21 babies on the ground. They all came within a few days of one another, which means we got very little sleep! We’re so happy to see them looking beautiful and healthy, though, so that makes up for the lack of shut-eye.

During the nighttime, all our “kids” are nestled down in their new fluffy straw pens with heat lamps warming the barn and protecting them from the cold winter nights. During the day, they romp and play in the beautiful Western Colorado sunshine, but they hastily return to the comforts of their warm beds when the sun recedes.

We’ve been busy caring for all of them and coming up with the latest, greatest names for each one. We have some real beauties that will make excellent 4-H wethers to show in July and August. We can’t believe just how BIG some of these babies are! Give us a call and we’d be happy to show them off.

Here is a picture of Blake—our first 2014 baby. As you can see, he’s practicing to be a show goat all ready! Just look at that s-t-r-e-t-ch! He is a real hunk out of Christina and our new buck Balance of Power. (You can see mama Christina poking her nose through the panel to check on him!)

Our babies are quiet and “kid” friendly right from the beginning. Here is our 4-year-old granddaughter Shannon Story giving 2-day-old Blake a big kiss! Is there any more ideal pet for a child than a goat? We don’t think so!

Babies will be ready to go come March, when the weather is warming up and the grass returns to the fields. If you’re interested in any of these babies, don’t hesitate to contact us, as they go quickly! Stay tuned for more updates as they grow and in the meantime, stay warm.
